Renzo Gracie Jiu Jitsu DFW opened its doors in May 2024 as the first and only Renzo Gracie academy in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, bringing a direct connection to the Gracie family’s storied lineage. The school was founded to deliver the “Renzo Gracie Jiu Jitsu lifestyle” to students of all ages, aiming to enrich lives both on and off the mats. At the helm is Professor Greg Hamilton, a second-degree black belt whose journey began in 2004 and who received his black belt in 2016. Professor Hamilton’s experience is grounded in direct training with legendary figures such as Renzo Gracie, Royce Gracie, and Rickson Gracie, ensuring that the curriculum is rooted in authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu traditions. Instruction at the academy is shaped by a team of experienced coaches, with Professor Hamilton leading adult programs and Professor Phillip Bulloch—his first black belt—overseeing the kids’ curriculum. Professor Bulloch brings nearly three decades of martial arts experience, including over 17 years in Jiu-Jitsu, and is known for his focus on character development alongside technical skills. The academy welcomes students as young as three, with separate gi and no-gi classes for kids, teens, and adults. The schedule includes fundamentals, intermediate, and advanced classes, as well as competition training, wrestling for teens and adults, and dedicated no-gi sessions. Beyond Jiu-Jitsu, the Hurst location offers Muay Thai and striking classes, and the facility features over 2,000 square feet of mat space, private showers, locker rooms, and a dedicated striking room. Classes run seven days a week, including early morning sessions and open mat times, making flexible training possible for a wide range of schedules. Drop-ins are welcome, and the gym maintains a practical, inclusive approach to sharing the Renzo Gracie system with the local community.
