Claim this gymRENZO GRACIE Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Newmarket bases its coaching philosophy on a structured beginner curriculum drawn from the Renzo Gracie starter system: fundamentals are drilled repeatedly, safety and positional control come before flashy techniques, and measurable progression is the expectation for every student. Coaches link that philosophy directly to class plans — warm-ups that reinforce posture and base, technical rounds that isolate one or two core moves, and controlled live rolling where refereeing and positional rules keep training constructive and safe. The academy operates inside Warrior MMA at 18075 Leslie St Units 14–26 in Newmarket and presents organised programs for adults, teens (13–17) and children (split 4–7 and 7–12). Instruction at the location lists Terry Riggs and Carlos Newton on staff; Riggs is described as a Canadian BJJ and Muay Thai champion and long-time coach, and Newton is listed as a former UFC World Champion and ADCC competitor. Those instructors are noted on the school website as teaching the Renzo Gracie beginner progression and self-defence-focused material. Practical details mirror the same structured approach: the website provides a contact phone (905-898-6543) and email (renzograciebjjnewmarket@yahoo.com), offers a free-class certificate for first-timers, and states the school is affiliated with Renzo Gracie International. Class organisation, safety emphasis and the affiliation are presented as the framework for students developing confidence and basic self-defence skills.
