Prineville Jiu Jitsu

Prineville Jiu Jitsu opened its doors in 2024 as Prineville’s first dedicated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA gym. The academy operates as an affiliate of Cascao Jiu-Jitsu, based in Las Vegas under Walter “Cascao” Vital, which connects its students to IBJJF-recognized events and competition opportunities. The gym’s leadership reflects this lineage with instructors who bring a mix of traditional martial arts and modern grappling experience, including Chris Acarregui, a 1st-degree BJJ black belt with a Shotokan Karate background, and local practitioners who train regularly at nearby Joint Lock BJJ. Classes at Prineville Jiu Jitsu are structured to serve both children and adults, with separate gi and no-gi sessions for each group. The kids’ program starts at age six and is led by instructors familiar with regional training hubs, maintaining continuity in skill development. Adults can train in fundamentals, no-gi, and MMA, with specialized coaching in wrestling and Muay Thai. Open mat sessions provide additional time for students to drill or spar beyond scheduled classes. The gym emphasizes a broad martial arts education within its curriculum rather than focusing exclusively on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Located on NE Main Street, the facility is wheelchair accessible and offers monthly memberships with discounts for families and first responders. While the gym welcomes drop-ins, its core is built around consistent training guided by instructors with decades of combined experience. Prineville Jiu Jitsu aims to establish a steady presence in Central Oregon by combining traditional grappling techniques with mixed martial arts training under experienced local coaches.
