Precision Jiu Jitsu in Hudson, NH, is led by Shawn Melanson, a black belt known locally for his competitive achievements and deep experience in no-gi grappling. Shawn’s journey began in his youth, learning techniques from family members before dedicating himself to MMA and later focusing exclusively on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His background includes a strong competition record and ongoing participation among top-level no-gi athletes. Alongside him, Alex West, a black belt under Shawn and an active competitor, contributes his knowledge gained from years of training and work with BJJ Fanatics to the instruction at the academy. The school is distinctive in the Hudson area as a no-gi specific gym, emphasizing techniques and training methods tailored to submission grappling without the gi. The curriculum includes no-gi classes for adults and kids, open mat sessions that double as competition training, and specialized rolling classes. Students can also participate in wrestling classes, which complement the grappling focus and support takedown skills relevant to no-gi competition. Precision Jiu Jitsu operates from a wheelchair-accessible facility at 14 Brady Drive, unit #2, and encourages prospective students to reach out before attending their first class.
