Phantom Jiu Jitsu Academy in Herndon, VA is led by Frank Rosenthal, a second-degree black belt under Renzo Gracie. Frank spent the majority of his career training at the Renzo Gracie Academy headquarters in New York City, learning directly from John Danaher and competing as part of the renowned Danaher Death Squad. He further honed his teaching skills at Renzo Gracie Bayside, developing curriculum for both basic and advanced students, before moving to Virginia to continue his own training under Ryan Hall at Fifty/50 Academy. Frank brings a deep competitive resume, with titles at Rise Invitational, Finishers Sub Only, and Submission Underground, and he approaches coaching with both an academic mindset—drawing on his degree in Health and Physical Education—and a competitor’s eye for detail. At Phantom Jiu Jitsu, students can expect a structured program that covers both gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The schedule includes fundamentals classes in both formats, giving new practitioners a clear entry point, as well as advanced sessions for those looking to refine their game.
