Padawan Jiu Jitsu

Padawan Jiu Jitsu is led by Aidan Levy, who began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of nine and has since developed a strong competitive record, including multiple first-place finishes at IBJJF Opens in New Haven, Nashville, Indianapolis, and Houston. Levy trains under Paulo and Joao Miyao, as well as Lee Rosenfield, an IBJJF black belt champion who serves as the academy’s head instructor. This connection to high-level competitors informs the coaching approach, which emphasizes skill development and confidence-building for young practitioners. The academy focuses exclusively on kids’ classes for ages 4 to 15, structuring small groups to provide personalized attention. Classes meet three times a week—Thursday and Friday late afternoons, plus Saturday early afternoon—allowing consistent training while accommodating school schedules. Instruction centers on gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, reflecting the traditional roots of the art, with a curriculum designed to support both casual learners and those interested in competition. Padawan Jiu Jitsu operates out of a wheelchair-accessible facility in Ocean View, Delaware. Drop-in students are accepted, subject to a fee for visitors, which helps maintain a stable training environment for local kids. The academy’s emphasis on youth development through BJJ is clear in its programming and coaching philosophy, aiming to foster growth on and off the mats through disciplined, competition-informed instruction.
