One World Jiu Jitsu

One World Jiu Jitsu Academy was founded in 2006 by Mike Prudencio in Union City, California. Mike’s goal was to create a school that combined a family atmosphere with a strong competitive focus. Since then, the academy has moved to Newark, where it continues to grow under his leadership. The school emphasizes building skill and confidence through consistent training, and Mike’s background includes experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as well as wrestling, judo, kickboxing, and MMA. Students at One World train in both gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with classes offered for kids and adults throughout the week. The kids’ program includes all-levels classes that blend gi and no-gi training, aiming to develop practical skills and self-confidence. Adults have multiple gi classes daily, including midday and evening sessions, and the academy regularly holds open mat sessions like the Members Marathon Roll and special open rounds to help practitioners sharpen their techniques and prepare for competition. The academy supports tournament preparation through dedicated team practices, reflecting Mike’s belief that competition accelerates learning. The facility is wheelchair accessible and welcomes drop-in students. One World’s approach is grounded in steady progress and practical application, with a focus on creating a place where families and competitors can train together.
