Olympus Jiu Jitsu Academy in Land O’ Lakes, Florida, is anchored by a detailed curriculum that reflects both tradition and real-world application. The academy’s class structure covers the full arc of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu development, beginning with fundamentals and advancing through specialized sessions like drill classes, sparring, and “King of the Mat.” Programs are organized by age and experience, with dedicated fundamentals and advanced gi classes for adults, as well as no-gi options for those interested in both styles. Kids’ classes are divided into 5-9 and 10-15 year age groups, with both gi and no-gi formats, ensuring that young students progress through clear, age-appropriate levels. The academy is led by Professor Josh Souder, a black belt with nearly two decades of experience and a background in professional MMA. He is joined by fellow black belts Professor Doug, a Pan American and European champion who leads early morning training, and Professor Keith, an American Nationals champion with years of coaching at Olympus. The coaching staff also includes experienced brown belt Coach Alex, who supplements the program with judo and wrestling, and younger instructors who have come up through the school’s own leadership pipeline. Olympus is a proud Checkmat affiliate, tying its curriculum to a respected international team with a strong competition tradition. Classes welcome drop-ins and cover a wide range of training needs, from foundational skills to competition preparation.
