NJ Ronin Jiu Jitsu and Striking Academy sits on Grand Ave in Hackettstown, led by owner and head instructor Danny Jantzen. Danny is a brown belt under Renzo Gracie black belt Jamie Cruz (Cruz Control BJJ) and has been teaching martial arts to children since 2012. Alongside Danny, Matt Nicolls brings his experience as an active fighter and coach, contributing to both Jiu Jitsu and striking classes. The academy’s roots reflect a blend of technical lineage and practical coaching, with a focus on helping every student find their own path on the mats. Training at NJ Ronin covers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the gi for adults and kids, with clear progression from fundamentals to advanced levels, especially in the kids’ programs. The schedule also features adult and youth striking classes, judo, and open mat sessions. Kids’ classes are split into beginner and advanced options for both Jiu Jitsu and striking, building confidence and skill from an early age.
