Next Move Jiu Jitsu in Rio Rancho is led by Jason Howells, an IBJJF Certified 2nd-degree black belt who brings years of experience and a commitment to developing martial artists of all ages. Under Professor Howells and his leadership team, the academy has become known for its focus on strategic thinking and personal growth, encouraging students to stay “2 Moves Ahead” both on the mats and in daily life. The instructors at Next Move have deep backgrounds in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and are dedicated to making a positive impact in the local Rio Rancho, Albuquerque, and Bernalillo communities. The academy offers a structured curriculum for adults and children, with programs designed to foster confidence, discipline, and technical skill. Kids classes start as young as six and progress through fundamentals, intermediate, and advanced levels, with both gi and no-gi options, including a combined striking class for ages 7–14. Adults can join fundamentals, all-levels, and advanced BJJ classes, as well as open mats and strength & conditioning sessions. There are also dedicated women’s self-defense classes and unique family options, such as parent-child combo sessions, allowing families to train together. Next Move Jiu Jitsu welcomes visitors and drop-ins, with multiple open mats throughout the week and a wheelchair-accessible facility. The academy maintains an inclusive, mentorship-driven atmosphere, and is affiliated with the EDJ School of Jiu Jitsu and C3 Concepts.
