Next Edge Academy in Sioux Falls was founded in 2008 with the goal of uniting high-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Kickboxing, and MMA instruction under one roof. The academy’s coaching staff includes the highest-ranking BJJ black belt in South Dakota alongside nationally recognized USA Boxing and Muay Thai coaches. This range of expertise informs a training approach that balances competitive preparation with practical skill development for everyday practitioners. The gym operates out of a clean, spacious facility equipped with dedicated mats and a boxing area, supporting a variety of martial arts disciplines. BJJ training at Next Edge rotates monthly between gi and no-gi classes, with adult sessions scheduled throughout the week and additional classes for teens and kids. Beginners can start with a structured six-week fundamentals course, while more advanced students have access to open mat sessions and team sparring opportunities. The academy also offers specialized programming such as women’s self-defense (R.E.I.G.N.) and women’s BJJ open mats, reflecting a commitment to diverse training needs. Alongside grappling, striking arts like boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai are taught through beginner courses and competitive sparring groups. Kids’ classes are divided into general and advanced levels, providing age-appropriate progression in BJJ fundamentals and technique.
