Richard’s journey spans decades on the mat, with 132 collegiate wrestling wins and a string of IBJJF Master World titles in both gi and no-gi, including gold at the 2023 IBJJF Black Belt Master Worlds. Introduced to jiu jitsu by Jay Janeiro, Richard found a calling that shaped his life and sobriety, and he brings that sense of purpose and resilience into every aspect of the academy. The coaching team includes seasoned black belts like Billy Ray Chubbs (“Megatron”), Nick Pica—a Gracie black belt and former Bellator MMA fighter—and brown belts with backgrounds ranging from law enforcement to the Marine Corps, each adding depth to the instruction. The academy offers structured Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu programs for adults and kids, with a clear path for beginners through fundamentals classes and all-levels training in the gi. Kids have dedicated classes, and women’s seminars and classes are part of the regular schedule, providing space for focused development.
