Claim this gymMegaton Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Gallup, New Mexico, traces its instruction to the Gracie lineage through Megaton Dias, who brought authentic Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to the United States under the influence of Royler Gracie. This connection grounds the academy firmly in traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu principles, emphasizing technical precision and steady progression through the belt ranks. The academy’s leadership reflects this heritage by focusing on hands-on, individualized coaching that helps students develop strong fundamentals and confidence on the mats. The training environment at Megaton is designed to serve a broad range of students, from children as young as five to adults pursuing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts. Programs for kids and teens build coordination, discipline, and focus, while adult classes concentrate on technique, fitness, and self-defense. MMA training is also integrated twice weekly, combining grappling and striking to round out a practical martial arts education. Open mat sessions provide additional time for practice and sparring, allowing students to refine their skills in a less structured setting. The academy’s facility supports its instructional goals with a 3,500-square-foot training area equipped with Zebra mats and a full MMA octagon. Separate locker rooms, showers, and recovery amenities like a cold plunge are maintained to professional standards, creating a practical and safe space for all levels. Megaton’s approach balances traditional Gracie Jiu-Jitsu methodology with modern training needs, fostering steady growth through clear instruction and consistent practice.
