St Nicholas Way, Sutton, Greater London
Martial Paths in Sutton offers a distinctive approach to martial arts, built on an integrative curriculum that draws from a wide range of disciplines. The academy continues the philosophy of Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do, prioritising practical effectiveness by blending the most useful elements from Boxing, Wing Chun, Savate, Filipino Martial Arts, Muay Thai, Karate, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The teaching is rooted in Inosanto JKD, with a strong focus on adaptability and real-world self-defence, while also emphasising the broader development of mind, body, and spirit. Classes are led by Yasser Saffar, who brings over two decades of experience to the mats. As a third-generation student in Bruce Lee’s lineage and a Full Instructor in Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Martial Arts under Richard Marlow, Yasser combines traditional and modern methods. His background includes a black belt in Karate and nearly 20 years of Kobudo, offering students a depth of knowledge across striking, grappling, and weapon arts. The academy’s philosophy encourages not just technical proficiency but also personal growth, using concepts like sanchin and kaizen to guide students towards resilience, discipline, and mental clarity. Training at Martial Paths is open to adults aged 16 and over, regardless of previous experience. The main session runs every Wednesday evening from 20:00 to 21:30 in central Sutton, and is structured to accommodate all levels. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is taught as part of a broader curriculum, integrated with striking and self-defence techniques. Drop-in visitors are welcome, making it straightforward for newcomers or travellers to join a session and experience the academy’s unique blend of martial arts.
