Life BJJ Coffs Harbour

Life BJJ Coffs Harbour was established in 2023 by Bernardo “Trekko” Magalhães, a fifth-degree black belt who has been teaching and competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for decades. Bernardo began his BJJ journey at age 14 in Brazil, won a national title just three years later, and has since made his mark in both Brazilian and Australian grappling circles. After earning Australian citizenship through his achievements in the sport, he brought his experience and vision to Coffs Harbour, aiming to unite traditional BJJ with modern coaching methods for students of all backgrounds. The academy runs a structured program for both adults and children, with classes available for ages four and up. Kids’ sessions focus on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fundamentals and self-defence, while also building confidence, discipline and respect. Adults can train in BJJ and MMA under Bernardo’s guidance, taking advantage of his extensive competitive background and academic grounding in physical education. The timetable includes beginner-friendly instruction as well as advanced technical training, with private trial classes offered for those wanting a more personalised start. Life BJJ Coffs Harbour also provides dedicated women’s classes and corporate programs, reflecting a belief that everyone should have access to the benefits of martial arts. The academy’s approach is grounded in safety, clear progression and practical self-defence, with both gi and no-gi training encouraged. Bernardo’s commitment to empowering students is evident in every aspect of the school, from the family-oriented ethos to the mix of traditional and innovative methods on the mats.
