Claim this gymLevel Ground BJJ was co-founded in 2023 by Tommy Schultz, a black belt instructor, and Matthew Lindhe, a purple belt with three stripes, in Ada, Oklahoma. The academy’s approach centers on teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a practical form of self-defense within a structured, family-oriented environment. Schultz and Lindhe emphasize fundamentals and progressive skill development, aiming to build confidence and technique through consistent practice rather than quick fixes or flashy moves. Classes at Level Ground are divided by age and training style, with gi and no-gi options available for adults. Morning sessions led by Lindhe alternate between gi and no-gi formats, focusing on drilling and positional control. Schultz runs evening adult classes covering both gi and no-gi, where technique review and live rolling are common. For younger students, there are gi classes under Lindhe’s instruction and a wrestling program coached by Braden Rudolph, providing a solid grappling foundation beyond BJJ. The academy also offers “The Boys/The Girls” class tailored for youth, reinforcing discipline and technique in a supportive setting. Open mat sessions are regularly scheduled, allowing students to explore techniques and spar freely outside structured class times. Drop-ins are welcome, reflecting the school’s openness to newcomers and visitors. Level Ground BJJ maintains a hands-on teaching style, with instructors actively guiding students through detailed sequences like Ashi Garami leg entanglements and neck control setups. This focus on technical precision and steady progress defines their training philosophy in Ada.
