Claim this gymLegacy BJJ in Papillion, Nebraska, was founded on the principle of individual growth through the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The academy is led by a team of black belt instructors under the guidance of Nebraska’s first BJJ black belt, Professor Ed Shobe, who earned his rank from Master Rodrigo Vaghi. With roots tracing directly to the Gracie family through Master Vaghi—a sixth-degree black belt under Rickson Gracie—Legacy BJJ maintains a strong connection to traditional Jiu-Jitsu values and techniques. The academy’s programs are structured to foster both technical skill and personal development. Adult classes focus on building a solid foundation in gi Jiu-Jitsu, emphasizing practical self-defense, resilience, and confidence. Open mat sessions provide students with opportunities for live training and peer learning, and drop-ins are welcome. Legacy BJJ also offers a full youth program for ages 6–12, as well as judo, strength and conditioning, and private lessons. The curriculum is designed to encourage teamwork and mentorship, with experienced instructors guiding students at every stage. Legacy BJJ is committed to making martial arts accessible and meaningful for its students. The facility is wheelchair accessible, and the academy regularly hosts seminars, workshops, and a Community Heroes program aimed at empowering local residents. Students at Legacy BJJ are encouraged to pursue not just technical excellence, but also integrity, respect, and leadership—qualities that extend beyond the mats into everyday life.
