13776 N Hwy 183 Unit 122, Austin, TX
Kingsway Jiu-Jitsu sits in North Austin just off Highway 183, and it carries one of the most recognizable coaching staffs in modern grappling. The academy is led by Gordon Ryan — one of the most decorated no-gi competitors in the history of the sport — alongside John Danaher and Garry Tonon. The three previously built New Wave Jiu-Jitsu, which was rebranded as Kingsway in 2025. The team's reputation was made at ADCC, and its approach to leg locks, back attacks and positional control has reshaped how no-gi jiu-jitsu is taught worldwide. The mats are not reserved for professionals. The schedule runs seven days a week with more than 40 classes, tiered so that a first-timer and a full-time competitor both have a place to train. Beginner gi classes meet at 6:00 am and again at 6:00 pm every weekday, with advanced gi in the mornings and advanced no-gi in the evenings. Dedicated pro no-gi sessions run mid-morning and midday for athletes training full time. Weekends are lighter: a beginner gi class followed by an advanced/pro no-gi session on both Saturday and Sunday. Kids and teens have their own track. Kids gi meets at 4:00 pm on weekdays and teens at 5:00 pm, with a mixed kids and teens gi class on Saturday mornings at 8:00 am. Beyond Ryan, Danaher and Tonon, the instructor roster runs deep: IBJJF world champion Nicholas Meregali, two-time ADCC middleweight world champion Giancarlo Bodoni, ADCC medalist Helena Crevar, ADCC heavyweight silver medalist Luke Griffith, and several of the team's own competitors who came up through the room. Drop-ins are welcome, and memberships range from three-classes-a-week plans to unlimited training.
