Killer Bee Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was founded in Abilene by Cesar Rodriguez and Emilio Sanchez, both longtime practitioners who built the academy to share the lessons and discipline they gained from years on the mats. Professor Cesar, a second-degree black belt under Robson Moura, brings more than 18 years of BJJ and MMA experience, along with a record that includes medals at the Pan Americans and American Nationals, as well as multiple IBJJF Open titles. His co-owner, Professor Emilio, also earned his black belt from Robson Moura and has an equally deep background in competition, holding national medals in both gi and no-gi. Together, they focus on teaching core values like respect, responsibility, and teamwork to every student, whether their goals are competition, self-defense, or personal growth. Classes at Killer Bee cover a wide range of programs for all ages, starting with fundamentals and moving through advanced training for those interested in competing. The academy offers dedicated kids’ classes, women’s only sessions, wrestling, judo, striking, and self-defense, as well as open mats and private instruction. Emilio’s expertise extends beyond Jiu-Jitsu into striking, where he is certified in the Duke Roufus Striking System and has competed in both MMA and kickboxing, giving students the chance to cross-train in multiple disciplines. Killer Bee has become a training home for airmen from Dyess Air Force Base, first responders from Abilene, and local homeschool families, reflecting its deep ties to the area. The academy is wheelchair accessible and welcomes students of all backgrounds to experience its approach to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts.
