Founded by Christos Ellinas in 2024, Kairos was built to fill a gap in Connecticut for competitive Jiu Jitsu—especially for young athletes. The academy’s schedule features two hours of kids’ classes every weekday, and the youth competition team has already earned medals at major events like IBJJF Gi and No-Gi PANS, JJWL East Coast Finals, and ADCC Opens. Classes at Kairos are structured to build both fundamentals and advanced skills, with gi and no-gi formats available for adults and a strong emphasis on developing a championship mentality. The kids’ program welcomes students as young as five, progressing from all-levels basics to a dedicated competition team. Adults can train in gi, no-gi, or join open mats, with instruction from a team that includes Christos Ellinas, Jeff Nelson (black belt/gi), and Pat Precourt (no-gi). The academy also hosts seminars for students looking to expand their game beyond regular classes. The facility itself is new and fully outfitted with FUJI mats and a spacious training area, along with a renovated social and viewing section for families. Kairos encourages drop-ins and is wheelchair accessible. Whether students compete or train for personal growth, the approach is demanding but supportive, reflecting the academy’s namesake: “doing the right thing at the right time.”
