Joplin BJJ

Joplin BJJ is led by Head Instructor Jason Rios, a Gracie Jiu Jitsu black belt who guides students through a structured curriculum that spans children, juniors, and adults. The academy emphasizes a gradual progression in both gi and no-gi training, with classes designed to build confidence, coordination, and technical skill at every stage. Rios and his team focus on fundamentals for beginners while offering opportunities for more advanced practitioners to refine their techniques and prepare for competition. The kids’ program is divided into two age groups: ages 5 to 10 attend Kids Gi classes that introduce the art in a safe and supportive setting, while ages 11 to 15 train in Junior Gi sessions that develop discipline and teamwork. Adult classes accommodate all levels with multiple gi and no-gi options throughout the week, including early morning, evening, and mixed-format sessions. Open mat times are available to supplement regular classes, allowing students to drill and spar freely. Located on Rangeline Road in Joplin, Missouri, the academy maintains a clean, wheelchair-accessible facility that supports a variety of training schedules. Drop-ins are accepted, and the school offers loaner gis for newcomers. Promotions and belt advancements are earned through consistent training and demonstrated skill, with instructors providing personalized attention to ensure students progress safely and effectively.
