6009 Gordon Dr, Sioux City, IA
Jiu Jitsu Unlimited in Sioux City, Iowa, is led by head coach Taylor Pace, a purple belt under Professor Tom DeBlass. Taylor’s journey began at this very academy, and after moving to Sioux City in 2019, he became deeply involved in both the local grappling scene and the broader Midwest competition circuit. With a background that includes appearances at IBJJF No-Gi Worlds and Pans, as well as a professional record highlighted by a notable win at Orbit Submission Series 11, Taylor brings current, high-level competitive experience to every class. The gym is a family effort, with both the Pace and Ebner families actively training, teaching, and supporting students of all ages on and off the mats. From its founding in 2022, Jiu Jitsu Unlimited has focused on helping students use Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to develop not just technical skill but also confidence and resilience. The academy uses a constraint-led, ecological approach to teaching—emphasizing dynamic movement, situational learning, and live problem-solving over rote repetition. This method shapes the curriculum for both adults and kids, allowing students to build a strong foundation while encouraging creativity and adaptability. Taylor and his team are dedicated to fostering an atmosphere where families, competitors, and newcomers all feel at home and can grow together. Training at Jiu Jitsu Unlimited covers both gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Adults can find all-levels classes in both formats, as well as foundations sessions and a dedicated competition class for those preparing for tournaments. Kids’ programs are thoughtfully divided by age, with classes like Little Lions (4–6), Lion Cubs (7–9), and Mixed Youth (7–13), plus a youth competition team for ages 8–13. Open mats—including community sessions and members-only rounds—give students additional opportunities for live training and cross-training, and drop-ins are welcome. The academy is wheelchair accessible, and the active presence of both coaching families ensures that the culture remains rooted in family values and shared progress.
