Jackson Brazilian BJJ Academy is led by Professor Justin Hartman, a black belt under Ashley Wheat who has been deeply involved in the Jackson, TN martial arts scene since 2016. Justin began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Maryland before relocating and dedicating himself full time to coaching and developing programs for adults, kids, and local law enforcement. Ashley Wheat, a black belt under Luiz Palhares, has been teaching in Jackson for over 20 years and brings decades of experience, including a blue belt promotion from Master Royce Gracie and a strong background in MMA coaching. At Jackson Brazilian BJJ Academy, students train in both gi and no-gi formats, with fundamentals classes designed to build solid technical foundations before progressing to intermediate and advanced levels. The academy offers a structured schedule featuring early morning and evening classes, open mats for adults, and specialized kids’ programs like Mini Jits to introduce younger practitioners to the art.
