65 Main St, Pine Bush, NY
Iron Guard BJJ & Kung Fu is led by Sensei Tom, a third-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Sensei Josh Griffiths of Clockwork Jiu Jitsu in New York City. Tom has over 30 years of experience in martial arts, including Tae Kwon Do and traditional Shaolin Hung Gar Kung Fu, where he reached master level studying under Chiu Chi-ling and Master David Lee. Before opening Iron Guard in Pine Bush, he co-owned a Shaolin Hung Gar Kung Fu center in Nyack, NY, running it for six years while also competing and medaling in IBJJF-sanctioned BJJ events. Training at Iron Guard focuses on gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with a clear progression from fundamentals to advanced youth and adult classes. The academy offers structured kids programs alongside adult classes, led by a team including purple belts Amanda Rodrigues, Toni Ficarotta, and AJ, each bringing experience in both BJJ and Kung Fu. Open mat sessions provide additional practice time for students to refine techniques and spar outside of formal classes. Besides Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the academy maintains its roots in traditional martial arts through Shaolin Hung Gar Kung Fu classes for adults. This blend reflects Sensei Tom’s commitment to preserving the arts as he learned them while fostering practical skill development. The facility at 65 Main St in Pine Bush is wheelchair accessible, accommodating a diverse range of students interested in disciplined martial arts training.
