Claim this gymHub City Combat Sports in Marshfield is guided by a team of instructors with deep roots in martial arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Head instructor Kevin started training BJJ in 1997 under Professor Roy Harris in San Diego and earned his black belt in 2011. After retiring from federal law enforcement, he dedicated himself to teaching full time. Other coaches include Cody, a brown belt in BJJ and black belt in Judo with a background in MMA and Sambo, Ryan, a blue belt and lifelong wrestler who also instructs in Modern Army Combatives, and Mack, a purple belt and Judo brown belt who grew up in Marshfield and brings a strong local connection. Students at Hub City Combat Sports train in both gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, with classes scheduled throughout the week. No-gi sessions take place Monday, Wednesday mornings, and Thursday evenings, while gi classes are held Tuesday evenings. The academy also offers kids classes divided by age groups, with younger children training Wednesday afternoons and older kids on Tuesday evenings. MMA training is available on Wednesday evenings, and there is an open mat on Sunday afternoons for extra rolling and practice. The instruction focuses on practical grappling skills drawn from BJJ and related disciplines, with an emphasis on technique, work ethic, and personal growth. The mix of gi and no-gi classes reflects the varied applications of submission grappling, while the kids’ programs aim to build discipline and fitness from an early age. The coaches’ backgrounds in law enforcement, military combatives, and competitive martial arts inform a straightforward, no-nonsense approach to training.
