Hill Jiu Jitsu Academy in North Canton teaches authentic Gracie Jiu Jitsu as a proud affiliate of the Pedro Sauer association. The academy’s roots in the Sauer lineage shape its focus on practical self-defense and technical ground skills, staying true to the principles handed down from Helio Gracie through Pedro Sauer. The class structure is designed for a broad range of ages and backgrounds. Kids’ programs are split into two age groups—4 to 6 and 7 to 13—emphasizing self-defense and bully prevention through structured gi classes. Adult classes (ages 14 and up) also center on gi-based Gracie Jiu Jitsu, with practical self-defense as a core theme. For women, a dedicated fundamentals class provides focused instruction in self-defense techniques within a supportive, women-only setting. Alongside the regular classes, Hill Jiu Jitsu offers open mat sessions for adults, giving students the chance to practice techniques, roll, and learn from one another in a less formal environment. The facility is wheelchair accessible, and drop-ins are welcome for most sessions.
