Hebron Brazilian Jiu Jitsu operates as part of Bushido Jiu-Jitsu Academy, led by founder Rob Magao, a third-degree black belt with over 25 years of experience in law enforcement and martial arts instruction. Since its start in 1999, the academy has focused on building confidence, discipline, and practical skills through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and related martial arts. Rob’s background as a SWAT instructor and creator of the Officer Survival Series shapes the school’s emphasis on real-world effectiveness alongside traditional training. At the Hebron location, students train under a team of black belts and experienced coaches who cover Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, No-Gi, MMA, and specialized programs like the Officer Survival Series for law enforcement and first responders. The academy offers structured classes for adults and children, with kids’ programs divided into age groups 5–7 and 8–13, focusing on self-defense, respect, and resilience. Instruction includes fundamentals, competition preparation, and cross-training in wrestling and judo, guided by instructors with diverse martial arts and coaching backgrounds. The facility at 111 Main St. is wheelchair accessible and supports a range of training needs, including drop-in classes and private instruction. Hebron Brazilian Jiu Jitsu serves the greater Connecticut area, including Manchester and Hartford, maintaining a steady schedule that reflects the academy’s long-standing presence and commitment to steady, purposeful training rather than shortcuts or hype.
