Hart Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Conshohocken is led by Timothy Hart, a Gracie Jiu Jitsu black belt under Phil and Ricardo Migliarese of Balance Studios. Tim’s journey began in the late 1990s, when he traveled into Philadelphia to train with the Migliarese brothers, finding his place in the Team Balance lineage. Over more than a decade of training and teaching, Tim has shaped the academy’s approach with the same energy and camaraderie that drew him to the art—emphasizing technical skill, safety, and genuine connection on and off the mats. The academy’s programs reflect this foundation, with a structured curriculum in both gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for adults, teens, and children. Beginners find their footing in Basic Jiu Jitsu classes, while advanced students and competitors can push their development in higher-level sessions and open mats. The kids’ program is divided by age and skill, from “Mini’s” and youth classes to advanced drills and competition-focused training for teens. Women and lighter-weight athletes have dedicated classes, and there’s a strong emphasis on both sport jiu jitsu and practical self-defense. Hart’s team includes a roster of black belt instructors with deep experience in both grappling and striking arts. Alongside the jiu jitsu program, students can train in Muay Thai from fundamentals to advanced levels, as well as participate in wrestling and boxing camps throughout the year. The academy maintains a drop-in-friendly policy and is wheelchair accessible, welcoming a wide range of students who want to challenge themselves in a disciplined, friendly environment.
