Harleysville BJJ was founded to provide a place where students could develop Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills that extend beyond the mat. The academy’s mission centers on helping practitioners achieve personal goals through disciplined training, whether those goals involve self-defense, fitness, competition, or mental resilience. Located on Hunsberger Lane, the school emphasizes a culture of mutual respect and challenge, aiming to push students past their limits in a supportive setting. The instruction team includes several black belts such as Ricky Royce and Kevin Shannon, alongside brown belts David Lu and Pat McCullion, who lead much of the curriculum. Classes begin with fundamentals in gi training, progressing into all-level sessions and no-gi fundamentals, reflecting a structured approach to skill development. The academy also offers kids’ classes tailored to different ages and experience levels, ensuring that younger students build confidence and discipline alongside technical proficiency. Beyond Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Harleysville BJJ integrates complementary arts like Muay Thai and yoga, broadening the training experience to include striking and flexibility work. Open mat sessions are available for adults to drill and spar outside of formal classes, and the facility is wheelchair accessible.
