47 Loveton Cir Suites E-F, Sparks Glencoe, MD
Ground Control Hunt Valley is led by Professor Dancy Debrosse, a black belt under Ricardo Almeida and John Rallo, both students of Renzo Gracie. Dancy began training in 2007 and brings a background in mixed martial arts alongside his work as a law enforcement officer. The academy also includes co-founder Mike Suskin, a purple belt under Dancy, and Tim Johnson, the youth program director and purple belt who has experience competing in IBJJF and other tournaments. This team guides students through a curriculum rooted in traditional gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, expanded to include no-gi classes and self-defense applications. Students at Ground Control train across multiple formats, including gi and no-gi BJJ for adults and kids, with classes organized by age and skill. The academy offers beginner through advanced sessions, women’s self-defense grappling, and open mat times that allow extra practice on both mats. The youth program is structured by age groups, providing gi and no-gi options tailored to kids and teens. Beyond Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the gym also offers Muay Thai and boxing classes for adults and children, reflecting a broader martial arts approach. The schedule supports early morning, midday, and evening classes throughout the week, accommodating a range of lifestyles. Open mats run regularly for both gi and no-gi practitioners, and the facility maintains a steady flow of classes to help students progress steadily. Ground Control Hunt Valley’s combination of experienced instructors, varied programming, and consistent training times reflects its focus on building solid grappling skills for self-defense, competition, and personal development.
