Claim this gymGreater Toronto Jiu Jitsu Center structures its curriculum around traditional Japanese Jiu-Jitsu grading and a clear progression from junior to adult ranks. The academy follows a formal syllabus with coloured belts through to black belt and separate junior streams (beginner, intermediate, advanced). Adult classes begin at 16 and blend traditional techniques with applicable self-defence and MMA skill components, reflecting the school's emphasis on practical application alongside kata and partner drills. Founded in 1990 by Kyoshi Neil Dalgarno, the Richmond Hill location at 2 Hunters Point Drive operates under the Canadian Japanese Jiu-Jitsu Alliance (CJJA) and the World Kobudo Federation (WFK). Neil Dalgarno is listed as Head Instructor (7th Dan), holds degrees in Kinesiology and Education, serves as president of the CJJA and is the author of Defend Yourself With Japanese Jiu-Jitsu. The coaching team includes Shihan Tony Richardson (6th Dan), Shihan O'Neil Anderson (6th Dan) and Sensei Kelvin Cheong (3rd Dan), with noted experience across Muay Thai, MMA and sport jiu-jitsu among the senior instructors. The facility on the lower level at 2 Hunter’s Point offers two dojos, change-rooms with showers, a pro shop, free Wi‑Fi and a reception area. Classes are organised by age and level, and programming lists both technical traditional training and modern combative elements for adults. The academy maintains an online presence at https://gtjj.ca/ and on Instagram as greatertorontojj for schedules and announcements.
