Claim this gymGreat Britain Top Team was founded in 2019 by Brad “One Punch” Pickett and Martin Barrett, with the clear ambition of building a true centre of excellence for mixed martial arts in the UK. The academy in Mitcham has quickly become the training base for fighters competing at the highest level, including the UFC, Cage Warriors and Bellator, as well as hosting the largest professional female team in the country. Brad Pickett brings nearly two decades of professional fighting experience, including a celebrated UFC career, and now leads the coaching team alongside specialists in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, judo, boxing and Muay Thai. The team’s roots are firmly planted in South London, but their reach is international, with an affiliation to American Top Team. The training on offer is broad and genuinely caters to all ages and ambitions, from junior “Ninjas” as young as five through to seasoned professionals. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes run for adults, teens and children, with both gi and no-gi grappling available, and a focus on structured progression from fundamentals to advanced levels. Wrestling, judo and striking sessions (boxing, Muay Thai, kickboxing) are all part of the weekly schedule, and there are dedicated sparring sessions for those wanting to test themselves in live rounds. The academy is open for training seven days a week, including early mornings and weekend sessions, making it accessible for those with busy routines. The kids’ programme at Great Britain Top Team is particularly well developed, separating classes by age and discipline—BJJ, judo, striking, and MMA fundamentals—allowing younger members to build confidence and skill in a supportive but challenging environment. Teens have access to both grappling and striking sessions, and the women’s programme includes boxercise and open classes. Advanced and pro-level training is available for those aiming to compete, but the doors remain open for anyone keen to improve their martial arts, regardless of starting point. Drop-ins are welcomed for most sessions, and the facility itself is purpose-built, with an octagon, boxing ring, functional training equipment and all the essentials for serious training.
