Claim this gymGrappling Bros Rydalmere was established in 2018 under the leadership of Diego Barreto, a fourth dan black belt in Judo and a two-stripe black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Barreto’s competitive record spans Brazil, Australia and Pan America, and his approach to coaching draws on both elite athletic experience and a deep commitment to discipline and personal growth. The academy’s teaching team includes several black belts in both BJJ and Judo, such as Pedro Antun Neto, Vinicius Costa and others, each bringing their own competitive and coaching backgrounds to the mats in Rydalmere. The academy’s programs are structured to offer a comprehensive grappling education, integrating Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo and No-Gi instruction. Grappling Bros places particular emphasis on starting training from the feet, rather than just from the knees, reflecting the importance of stand-up grappling and real-world self-defence. Students progress through a logical sequence of classes, from fundamentals and technical drills to advanced sessions, always with a focus on safety and long-term development. The curriculum is shaped by both traditional Japanese Jiu-Jitsu roots and modern adaptations, aiming to build well-rounded grapplers who are prepared for both competition and practical self-defence. Training at Grappling Bros Rydalmere covers all ages and stages. The academy offers BJJ classes for children as young as four (Tiny Tots), with additional classes for Kids, Teens, and adults at beginner, advanced and high-level competition streams. Judo and No-Gi classes are also available, and there are specific school holiday programs that mix martial arts with games and physical development. The academy’s Groundforce program for rugby athletes is a notable addition, using grappling to build power, control and tackling skills for on-field performance.
