Claim this gymGrappling Bros Plumpton is part of a wider network of academies founded by Diego Barreto, a fourth dan black belt in Judo and a two-stripe black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Established in 2018, the Grappling Bros academies draw on Barreto’s international competition pedigree and teaching experience, with a coaching team that includes multiple black belts in both BJJ and Judo. The approach here is shaped by a blend of respect, discipline, and technical progression, aiming to develop both the martial artist and the person, with influences from both Japanese and Brazilian grappling traditions. Training at Grappling Bros Plumpton covers the full spectrum of grappling arts. The core programs include Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the gi, Judo, and No-Gi classes, all structured to build strong fundamentals before advancing to more complex techniques. Students are encouraged to develop their skills from standing as well as on the ground, reflecting the academy’s emphasis on real-world self-defence and competition readiness. Classes are available for children as young as four, with specific groups for Tiny Tots, Kids, Teens, and adults. There is a clear progression from introductory classes through to advanced and high-level sessions, providing a pathway for those aiming to compete or simply deepen their understanding. Beyond the standard programs, Grappling Bros Plumpton offers school holiday activities and specialised sessions for rugby athletes, using grappling techniques to boost on-field performance. The academy’s philosophy centres on safety, technical excellence, and holistic development, aiming to provide a well-rounded martial arts education for the Plumpton community.
