Gracie Sutherland Shire Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy

Gracie Sutherland Shire Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Kirrawee was established under the guidance of Owen Gee Kee, a third-degree black belt who began his BJJ journey in 1997. After early training in Queensland, Owen moved to Sydney and earned his black belt in 2013 under Bruno Panno of Gracie Humaita. With years spent teaching at the Gracie Humaita Australian Headquarters, Owen now leads a team of experienced instructors, including Chris Casaceli and Brad Ku, both accomplished competitors with deep roots in the Sutherland Shire and international grappling experience. The academy follows a structured approach to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, delivering programs in line with Gracie Humaita tradition. Adults can progress through fundamentals, beginners, and intermediate/advanced classes, ensuring a clear path for skill development. Both gi and no-gi classes are offered, with instructors drawing on backgrounds in wrestling, judo, boxing, and MMA to round out the grappling curriculum. Women’s classes are taught by women and focus on practical self-defence, while the kids’ program is designed to build coordination, balance, and confidence through games and skill-based activities, always emphasising appropriate use of technique. Training at Gracie Sutherland Shire is membership-based, with no casual drop-ins accepted, fostering a consistent learning environment. The academy is located only minutes from Kirrawee train station, making it accessible for locals. Classes are scheduled throughout the week for adults, kids, and women, with a focus on both self-defence and sport BJJ. The coaching team’s experience at national and international levels, along with a strong connection to the Gracie Humaita lineage, shapes the academy’s approach to teaching and development on the mats.
