Gracie South Bay Jiu Jitsu is led by Professors Leticia Ribeiro and Fabrício Camões, both black belts under Master Royler Gracie and co-founders of the National City academy. Ribeiro began training in 1995 and has earned nine IBJJF World Championships, along with numerous other titles, earning her a place in the IBJJF Hall of Fame. Camões brings a diverse martial arts background including judo, taekwondo, and Muay Thai, and holds IBJJF World No-Gi titles in the Master division as well as experience competing in the UFC. Their combined expertise reflects a deep connection to the Gracie Humaitá lineage and a focus on authentic Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. The academy serves a broad range of students from children as young as four to senior adults, emphasizing self-defense and practical technique alongside sport competition. Programs include dedicated kids and junior classes designed to build coordination, confidence, and respect without violence. Women’s only Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and self-defense classes address specific training needs. Adults can progress through fundamental to advanced classes, while private lessons are available for personalized instruction. The curriculum stays true to Gracie Jiu-Jitsu’s roots, teaching leverage-based ground fighting and real-world defense against strikes and grabs. Gracie South Bay offers open mat sessions for adult students, encouraging additional practice and sparring opportunities beyond formal classes. The facility is wheelchair accessible, reflecting attention to inclusivity. Located in National City, the academy continues the tradition of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu as both a martial art and a self-defense system, guided by instructors with longstanding competitive and coaching pedigrees.
