35 Kainehe ST #103, Kailua, Kailua, HI
Gracie Jiujitsu Kailua is led by Jason Izaguirre, a black belt with deep roots in both Kailua and the traditional Gracie Jiu-Jitsu system. Jason began training in Rio de Janeiro under Carlinhos Gracie and earned his blue belt from Rillion Gracie. He further honed his skills training with Royler Gracie and the Gracie Humaita team before returning to Hawaii to continue his studies under Relson Gracie. In 2001, Jason opened the academy in his hometown to share the practical self-defense techniques he learned through years of direct instruction from some of the sport’s most respected figures. The school focuses on teaching the original Gracie Jiu-Jitsu curriculum, emphasizing self-defense alongside sport jiu-jitsu. Classes are structured for all ages, with gi training for kids starting as young as four, progressing through youth classes up to 17 years old. Adult students train primarily in gi as well, with open mat sessions available for extra practice. Private lessons are also offered throughout the week and weekends to provide tailored instruction. Gracie Jiujitsu Kailua maintains a clear connection to the lineage and methodology developed by the Gracie family, aiming to equip students with effective techniques to protect themselves in real situations. The academy’s approach respects the tradition of the art while serving the needs of its local students in Kailua.
