Gracie Jiu Jitsu Saltillo brings the Gracie family’s well-known approach to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu directly to Saltillo, Mississippi. As an official Certified Training Center under Gracie University, the academy follows the structured curriculum and teaching methods developed in Torrance, California by the Gracie family, whose legacy in jiu-jitsu stretches back over a century to the art’s founders, Carlos and Helio Gracie. Every instructor at the academy has completed the Gracie University Instructor Certification Program, ensuring both a deep understanding of the material and the ability to teach it in a safe, methodical way. Classes at Gracie Jiu Jitsu Saltillo are organized by age and experience, with clear, progressive programs for every group. Adults new to the art start in Gracie Combatives, a curriculum of 36 core techniques taught in a cooperative, non-competitive setting that emphasizes self-defense fundamentals before sparring is introduced. For advanced adults, the Master Cycle builds on this foundation with more sophisticated techniques and live sparring. Kids’ classes are split into Mat Munchkins (ages 3–5), Little Champs (ages 5–7), and Jr. Grapplers (ages 8–12), each following the Gracie Bullyproof curriculum designed to teach practical self-defense skills and build confidence in a structured, encouraging environment. The academy maintains a strong focus on safety and clarity, tracking each student’s progress with attendance cards and offering consistent feedback. All classes are taught in the gi, in line with Gracie tradition. Students enrolled at the Saltillo location receive free access to Gracie University’s online platform for supplemental study and can train at any other Certified Training Center worldwide for up to 30 days per year. Drop-ins are welcome, and the facility is wheelchair accessible.
