Claim this gymGracie Jiu-Jitsu Perth in Wembley is led by Professor Aldo Lobato, a black belt under Royler Gracie and a certified Gracie Humaita professor of self-defence. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Aldo brings more than three decades of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with his lineage tracing directly back to Helio Gracie, the founder of the Gracie Humaita Academy. In addition to his BJJ credentials, Aldo also holds a black belt in judo, and his teaching places a strong emphasis on the traditional Gracie system and its self-defence roots. Classes at the academy follow a structured approach, with dedicated sessions for beginners, fundamentals, and intermediate/advanced practitioners. Beginners’ classes focus on the core principles and foundational techniques, while the fundamentals and advanced classes build on these skills and introduce more complex concepts. The timetable offers regular training opportunities throughout the week, including early evening sessions and a morning kids’ class, catering to families and those balancing work or school commitments. Beyond Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Perth incorporates judo fundamentals, self-defence, and grappling into its curriculum. The academy also offers yoga for Jiu-Jitsu, taught by Karla Gonçalves, who brings her own depth of experience to help students with mobility, mindfulness, and recovery. The school is recognised by major international jiu-jitsu federations and maintains a strong connection to the original Gracie philosophy, focusing on technical progression and practical self-defence for all ages.
