5275 Vista Blvd #A-3, Sparks, NV
Gracie Humaita Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Sparks is led by Professor Alexandre Garcia, a third-degree black belt born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. With over 20 years of experience, Alexandre trained under Professor Marcão, a direct student of Royler Gracie, and carries the Gracie Humaita lineage directly from Brazil to Northern Nevada. Before opening his own academy, he coached at Ken Shamrock’s Lion’s Den and has earned tournament wins both in Brazil and the United States. The academy offers a structured Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program for both adults and kids, emphasizing authentic Gracie self-defense techniques rooted in leverage and efficiency. Adult classes are available in both gi and no-gi formats, with instruction for students ages 14 and up. For younger students, the kids’ program covers ages 4–13, divided into separate classes for ages 4–9 and 10–13, focusing on confidence, discipline, and practical self-defense skills. Private lessons with Professor Alexandre are also available for adults looking for individualized attention or competition preparation. Training is available six days a week, and one membership provides access to both the Sparks and South Reno locations. The facility is wheelchair accessible, and drop-ins are welcome. Gracie Humaita in Sparks stays true to the traditional Gracie approach while offering options for modern training, serving students and families from across the region.
