Gracie Barra Tweed Heads

Gracie Barra Tweed Heads brings the global Gracie Barra tradition to Tweed Heads South, led by a team of experienced black belt instructors including Professor Lucas Queiroz, who has over 30 years of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The academy is founded on the values of integrity, development and brotherhood, with a strong focus on helping students achieve personal growth, confidence, and discipline both on and off the mats. All instructors are certified annually through the Gracie Barra Instructor Certification Program and maintain current First Aid and Working With Children credentials, reflecting a deep commitment to safety and professionalism. Training at this school follows the structured Gracie Barra curriculum, covering all levels from the GB1 fundamentals program through to advanced (GB2) and expert (GB3) classes for blue belts and above. Adults can access both gi and no-gi training, including fundamentals, sparring, and drilling sessions. There is also a dedicated women’s self-defence class as part of the GBF program, providing a supportive entry point for women into BJJ. Kids and teens are catered for with age-appropriate gi and no-gi classes, including sessions focused on takedowns and groundwork, as well as a Pee Wee & Juvenile NoGi class for the younger age groups. The weekly timetable runs from early mornings through to the evening most weekdays, with classes available Monday to Saturday. Open mat sessions offer extra time for practice and sparring. The academy is family-friendly, with facilities including changing rooms, accessible toilets, a waiting area, and on-site parking. Drop-ins are welcome, and the school regularly hosts community initiatives such as workshops and self-defence seminars, reinforcing its commitment to sharing the benefits of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu throughout Tweed Heads.
