Claim this gymGracie Barra Tuggerah serves the Central Coast as part of the global Gracie Barra network, delivering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a structured and disciplined setting. The academy is led by Professor Chad Elliott, a black belt whose background includes service in the Australian Special Forces, and coach Deklan Hewett, a brown belt with deep local martial arts roots and national wrestling titles. Both instructors grew up on the Central Coast and bring a strong sense of community, technical excellence, and personal development to the mats. Their combined experience in competition, coaching, and mentorship shapes the academy’s commitment to integrity, brotherhood, and growth for students of all ages. Training at Gracie Barra Tuggerah follows the established Gracie Barra curriculum, with clear progression from fundamentals through to advanced and expert levels. The GB1 Fundamentals program introduces core techniques and self-defence, while GB2 adds advanced techniques, complex drills, no-gi training, and live rolling for students with at least three stripes on their white belt. GB3 is reserved for blue belts and above, pushing higher-level students with more challenging drills and higher intensity. The GBF program is tailored for women, focusing on core skills and building confidence before moving into the broader curriculum. Children start in the GBK program, which builds discipline and respect through age-appropriate classes that cover self-defence, takedowns, and ground techniques. Classes run six days a week, with early morning, midday, afternoon, and evening sessions to suit a range of schedules. The academy is set up to accommodate families and working adults, and all instructors hold current first aid, police check, and Working With Children certification. Gracie Barra Tuggerah maintains a strong focus on safety, technical progression, and providing a reliable place for locals to develop in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
