Gracie Barra North Orlando BJJ is led by Professor Gustavo “Gutty” Muggiati, a 6th degree black belt from Rio de Janeiro with over 25 years of experience on the mats. Professor Gutty started training in 1992 and earned his black belt in 1998 under Carlos Gracie Jr., Leao Teixeira, and Helio Soneca. After a successful competitive career and years coaching in Brazil—including work with top MMA fighters—he moved to Central Florida to continue teaching the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Alongside Professor Gutty, the academy is supported by a team of black belt instructors, including Professor Fabian Reyes and Professor Lawrence Siegel, each bringing their own history and dedication to the school. The academy follows the structured Gracie Barra curriculum, with a primary focus on gi-based Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Classes are offered for all ages and experience levels, starting with fundamentals for new students and progressing to advanced sessions for experienced practitioners. There are specialized programs for children as young as four, as well as teens and juniors. Adults can take part in fundamentals, advanced, and all-levels classes, with additional no-gi fundamentals and advanced sessions available. Women’s classes, led by black belt Sabrina Felker, provide dedicated training for women and also support the kids’ programs. Located just north of downtown Orlando, the two-story facility features two large mat areas, a heavy bag section, a boxing ring, and a full weight room. The space is designed to handle multiple classes at once, making it possible for families to train together or for students to find the right session for their goals. The academy welcomes visitors and offers drop-in options for most classes. With a schedule of over 30 sessions per week, Gracie Barra North Orlando is grounded in tradition while adapting to the needs of its students.
