Gracie Barra Dana Point Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Martial Arts is led by Professor Flavio Almeida, a fifth-degree black belt with decades of experience on the mats and a long history under the guidance of Master Carlos Gracie Jr. Professor Almeida’s journey began in Brazil, training alongside legends such as Renzo Gracie and Marcio Feitosa, and his competition record includes world titles at multiple belt levels as well as ADCC and Pan American medals. Since founding the Dana Point location in 2009, he has built a school that carries forward the Gracie Barra tradition of technical excellence, discipline, and personal growth. Day to day, the academy follows the structured Gracie Barra curriculum, offering classes for children as young as four, youth and teens, and adults of all experience levels. The teaching team includes Professor Fernando Nassif, a second-degree black belt from São Paulo who has dedicated his career to sharing jiu-jitsu’s life-changing benefits, and Coach Paula Guedes, a purple belt and certified Barra Fit coach with a background in physical therapy and women’s training. The school’s program lineup features traditional gi classes as its core, with additional options for no-gi, women’s self-defense, anti-bullying classes for kids, and private lessons. Families are encouraged to train together, and the facility is designed to support everyone from first-timers to competitors. Gracie Barra Dana Point serves a broad community from Dana Point and surrounding areas, with a focus on respect, resilience, and camaraderie both on and off the mats.
