The academy follows a direct lineage from Jigoro Kano to Mitsuyo Maeda, Carlos Gracie Sr., Hélio Gracie, and Relson Gracie, staying true to the original self-defense system developed by the Gracie family. Rather than focusing on sport-based competition, Good Karma uses Gracie Jiu-Jitsu as a path for personal growth, discipline, and practical self-defense—an approach summed up by their motto: Self-Development Through Self-Defense. The curriculum at Good Karma is structured around authentic Relson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, emphasizing real-world effectiveness and the kind of technique that stands up under pressure.
