Genesis Jiu Jitsu Burleson

Genesis Jiu Jitsu Burleson was founded in 2017 with the mission of creating a family-oriented space where people of all ages and backgrounds could experience authentic martial arts in a respectful, supportive environment. Led by Professor Javi—a black belt under Albert Hughes and Braden Masters and an IBJJF Worlds champion at blue belt—the academy draws on a team of experienced coaches who each bring their own unique backgrounds. Notable instructors include Coach Kari Summers, an IBJJF Master World Champion at multiple belt levels; Coach Deymond, a 2011 IBJJF No-Gi World Champion and Army combat veteran; and Coach Jack, who holds black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and Minami Ryu Japanese Jujitsu. The coaching staff reflects a blend of competitive experience, deep technical knowledge, and a genuine investment in student growth, on and off the mats. Training at Genesis covers a broad spectrum of grappling arts. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is taught in both gi and no-gi formats, with classes for adults and a structured kids’ program starting at age four. There are fundamental and all-levels classes, advanced sessions by invitation, and dedicated offerings for women. The academy is also home to robust judo and wrestling programs for both kids and adults, led by instructors with decades of experience in standing grappling, takedowns, and ground control. Students benefit from open mat sessions, flexible membership options, and a welcoming approach to drop-ins. Genesis Jiu Jitsu Burleson also runs specialized programs, including a homeschool BJJ class for kids and a focus on making martial arts accessible to families. The gym is open seven days a week at its Burleson location, serving not just the city but the wider Fort Worth area. The academy’s culture is centered on mutual respect, personal attention, and celebrating milestones together, making it a second home for many who step on the mats.
