Claim this gymGarden State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Red Bank is owned and led by Chris Ulbricht, a second-degree black belt under fifth-degree black belt Jared Weiner. Ulbricht began training in 2008 and the academy describes him as an accomplished competitor with tournament victories at every belt level through black belt. That gives Garden State a more concrete technical identity than the generic class-list description previously attached to the profile. The Red Bank academy serves adults and children and has a coaching staff that students repeatedly encounter across its programs. Its official location page lists long weekday hours plus Saturday training, making the schedule unusually flexible for students balancing work or family commitments. The academy also explicitly welcomes beginners and visiting grapplers, while its public materials show both jiu jitsu and kickboxing in the broader program. For someone comparing BJJ around Red Bank, Middletown and Monmouth County, Garden State is best understood as a black-belt-led local academy with a competition-experienced owner and a large established student base—not simply as a highly reviewed gym. The current Let’s Roll review data adds useful social proof, but Ulbricht’s lineage, teaching role and competitive background are the stronger reasons to understand what the room actually is.
