Flood City BJJ

Flood City BJJ is the only Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym located in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, operating out of the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center on Schoolhouse Road. The academy was founded to offer dedicated martial arts training that goes beyond self-defense, emphasizing character development, mental focus, and physical conditioning. The coaching staff brings experience across skill levels, supporting students from beginners to advanced practitioners with structured classes in both gi and no-gi formats. Students at Flood City train in a curriculum that begins with fundamentals like stance, movement, and body control before advancing to strategy, leverage, and momentum. No-gi classes emphasize speed, strength, and agility for dynamic ground fighting, complementing the traditional gi training. The academy also offers competition training designed to prepare athletes for the tactical demands of sport jiu-jitsu. Children’s programs accommodate ages 4 to 12 with age-appropriate classes in both gi and no-gi, reflecting the school’s commitment to lifelong martial arts education. In addition to regular classes, Flood City provides open mat sessions for adults, allowing practitioners to drill and spar outside of formal instruction. Alongside Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the schedule includes Muay Thai training several mornings and evenings throughout the week. Flood City also operates a sister location in Altoona, broadening access to grappling and striking disciplines in the region.
