Fenix Brazilian Jiu Jitsu opened its doors in Woburn in 2007, founded by Coach Ron Campos, whose martial arts background spans over 25 years across BJJ, judo, wrestling, and MMA. Campos established Fenix to offer a place where people of all ages could learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with sound instruction and a long-term, practical approach. Over the years, the academy has grown to include a second location in Tewksbury and now supports over 400 active members from across the Boston area. The class structure at Fenix reflects both tradition and breadth. Adult students have access to fundamentals, all-levels, and advanced gi classes, as well as a full progression of no-gi instruction, including dedicated fundamentals and advanced sessions. Open mat times are scheduled regularly, welcoming practitioners to test techniques and roll with a variety of training partners. For younger students, the academy runs age-specific programs starting with Little Grapplers (ages 3–5), moving through beginner and intermediate gi classes for kids aged 6–12, and offering both gi and no-gi options for juniors and teens. This progression allows children and teens to develop steadily, building confidence and skill in a structured environment. Fenix BJJ operates year-round and maintains a flexible schedule, with classes running mornings, noons, and evenings to accommodate different lifestyles. Membership is offered on a month-to-month basis, and families, female students, and first responders benefit from special rates. Drop-ins are welcome for most classes and open mats. The academy’s longstanding presence and commitment to practical, inclusive training have made it a mainstay for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Woburn and the surrounding region.
