Fargo Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Kickboxing Academy was founded in 2008 by husband and wife black belts George and Sarah Andersch, both accomplished instructors with deep roots in the art. George and Sarah earned their black belts under Amal Easton, a respected American pioneer affiliated with Renzo Gracie, giving the academy a direct lineage to the Gracie family in Brazil. Their vision from the start has been to build not only skilled martial artists, but a positive, supportive environment that helps students grow stronger and more confident, both on and off the mats. Day to day, Fargo BJJ offers a structured progression for adults and kids alike. Adult students can choose from gi-based fundamentals, all-levels classes, and no-gi sessions, with instruction led by George Andersch, Sarah Andersch, Rob Ash, and a team of seasoned black belts. For those interested in striking, co-ed kickboxing is also part of the regular schedule. The kids’ program is extensive, with Sarah Andersch leading beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes, plus a unique parent/kids session that encourages families to train together. The academy also runs a dedicated women’s fitness and self-defense program, reflecting a commitment to practical skills and empowerment for all members. Fargo BJJ’s influence extends throughout the region, with many students and coaches going on to establish academies of their own. The academy welcomes drop-ins, offers open mat sessions, and is equipped with amenities such as parking and wheelchair access. Over the years, Fargo BJJ has introduced thousands of men, women, and children to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and continues to serve as a hub for authentic training and personal development in the Dakotas and western Minnesota.
